Software Analysis and Improvement (User Friendliness)

Dr. Johnson offers his expertise to improve the functionality of the software program he works with.

One of the major difficulties that I have found with software is user friendliness. There seems to be a tendency to use “cute” names for features, and these names do not reflect the functions, so users are confused as to which features do what. I make suggestions for:

  • renaming features
  • re-organizing where they are located
  • adding missing features

The revisions make the software program I am working with much more intuitive and inclusive of features that should have been there in the first place.

All product analysis takes place in one of three labs, which are set up for audio and video, subjective evaluation. Objective testing is utilized in two of the three labs. The reference equipment within each of these labs is described below:
